End of Year Wrap - Some great rugby to Come in 2020

Posted by John Gates on

We've just put our 2020 Rugby Calendar together for the new Rugby year coming. Everything from the main European comps and the Japanese Rugby Championship, the new Global Rapid Rugby competition, links to all other countries via the Scoreboard Website and the World Rugby site - even including the draw for the British and Irish Lions tour of Sth Africa in July 2021.

We're still waiting on confirmation of all the Aussie Premier Rugby comps and details of the NRC and end of year tests, so check back, regularly.

This year we are going to concentrate more on Aussie suppliers, so that we can improve our shipping times, but we will continue to keep our eyes out for great products from overseas that we can ship with short lead times.

We have taken on a new Aussie T-Shirt printer/ supplier and we can get items to you on very quick turnaround, at very competitive prices.

The Super Rugby season starts earlier this season - January 31 with the Blues hosting the Chiefs at Auckland and the Brumbies (my team) hosting the Reds in Canberra - I can't wait and I think that this is going to be, what is hopefully the start of a great new era for Australian Rugby with a new coach in Dave Rennie and his new support team, new coaches at the NZ franchises and the All Blacks.

The Wallabies begin their new post-Cheika era. Nobody wants to be critical, and the players showed their support for him, but there was no doubt, in my mind that he played favourites. Rennie hopefully arrives with no  baggage and  won't play favourites.

We have lost the likes of Arnold, Coleman, Pocock, Phipps, Genia, Lealiifano, Cooper, Foley, Kerevi either to retirement or overseas - so there are some large holes to fiill, but I am confident that some of the fringe players such as Powell and Banks, Samu, Hunt and many others will get a fair hearing and the likes of last years successful Under 20's will start to make their moves.

It's the start of the new RWC cycle and I am excited for Rugby, generally.
